Peanut Bar / Chikki
4
Chikki is a healthy bar which is prepared by mixing peanut with Jaggery or sugar syrup. Peanut bar can be served as healthy snack for kids as it contains good amount of protein. Chikki has been all time favorite snack of mine and today I am preparing my grandmother’s style of chikki.
4
150 g Peanut
150 g Jaggery
1 tsp. Ghee/butter
150 g Jaggery
1 tsp. Ghee/butter
• Roast the peanut in microwave for 3 min and peel of the skin or you can even use the roasted peanut available in market.
• In a skillet add 1 tsp. of ghee when hot add Jaggery and stir on a low flame.
• The Jaggery starts to melt, after 6 min place a drop of melted Jaggery syrup in water, when it starts to freeze the syrup is ready.
• Once the syrup is ready, add the peanut and mix constantly with spoon and cook for 1 min then transfer to the tray layered by parchment paper and allow it cool.
• Once the chikki/peanut bar is cooled cut them into desired shape and store in air tight container and enjoy.
