Pecan Praline Sauce

Thick, sweet, and rich, this sauce really does taste like a praline in pourable form. Drizzle warm over pound cake, pumpkin bread, banana bread, or ice cream.

2 and 1/4 cups light brown sugar
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans (lightly toasted, if desired)
