PW's Sloppy Joes

A delicious sandwich great for any weeknight or weekend, perfect for large gatherings. The Pioneer Woman's Sloppy Joes are just as fantastic as you can imagine.

2 tbsp. butter
2-½ lbs ground beef or turkey
½ large onion, diced
1 large green bell pepper, diced
5 cloves garlic, minced
1-½ c. ketchup
1 c. water
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. dry mustard
½ tsp. red pepper flakes
Worcestershire sauce to taste
2 tbsp. tomato paste (optional)
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper, to taste
