{Quick & Easy} Homemade Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns

1 cup milk 1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1 egg, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (also called bread machine yeast)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
