Salisbury Steak with Red Wine Sauce and Cheese Toast

This is another of my husband’s favorite dinners. There’s a lot of herbs in it, so it’s really flavorful without adding oils or butter. I know you need some fat in your diet, but I try not to add too much while I’m cooking. The red wine in the sauce really adds a richness to the sauce. And it might look like it would take a while to make this, but it comes together pretty quickly. I start by preparing the toast for the oven and getting the steaks ready for the pan. For the steaks:
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1 1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 1/2 teaspoon basil

For the sauce:
1 cup beef broth (preferably low sodium)
1/2 cup dry red wine
2 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1 1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 1/2 teaspoon basil

For the toast:
2 onion rolls, halved
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
