Over the top, knock-out brownie with homemade salted carmel.

For the Carmel:
2 cups sugar
12 tablespoons salted butter
1 1/3 cups cream
1 teaspoon salt

For the brownies:
1 cup salted butter
4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs
2 cups gluten free flour or wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons xantham gum for the gluten free version
1 1/2 cups good quality semi-sweet chocolate chips
