Slow-Cooked Spicy Pulled Pork

When it comes to pork, I’m usually like “meh” (save the obvious: bacon). But I don’t know that anyone can resist some good, slow-cooked, super flavorful and spicy pulled pork. When I found this original recipe, I was pumped. I was thinking, “I’ll use this meat in chili, tacos, sandwiches, tostadas, brunch dishes - the possibilities were basically endless!” So I went for it.

1 pork shoulder
2 onions
2 cans of dark soda (preferably Dr. Pepper)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup spicy ancho chile salsa (I used a habanero garlic variety)
garlic powder to taste
cayenne pepper to taste
salt and pepper to taste
