Soft Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

My kids love these cookies and they don't last long at our house. These are delicious warm out of the oven but are even better the next day.

2 cups sugar
15 oz can of pumpkin
1 cup of shortening or butter
4 cups of flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream the sugar, shortening, and pumpkin. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips. Spoon onto pan in 1.5 inch balls. Bake for 11-13 minutes. Make about 4 dozen cookies.
