Sour Cream Apple Pie

The best ever apple pie! You'll never go back to the other kind of apple pie after tasting this!

2 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
2 cup thinly sliced apples (Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, or Gala varieties work well)
1 unbaked pie shell

Crumb topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 c. melted butter
Sift dry ingredients into large mixing bowl. Stir in egg, sour cream, and vanilla. Fold in apples. Spoon mixture into pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Lower heat to 350 degrees, and bake 30 minutes longer. While pie bakes, prepare crumb topping : mix all of the topping ingredients in a bowl and mash with a fork until crumbly. Remove pie from oven; reset heat to 400 degrees. Sprinkle pie with crumb topping and return pie to oven. Bake for 10 more minutes. Remove from oven, and let cool on wire rack. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
