Split Pea Soup

My favorite soup when I was growing up was split pea soup. I do not make mine with a ham bone; I just use chicken stock and add loads of garlic. It would great with Lori’s Cheesy Beer Bread!

16 oz bag of split peas
32 oz of chicken stock
1 diced onion
3 cups chopped carrots
1/2 cup of diced celery
2-4 cloves of garlic
a couple splashes of olive oil
2 tsp of marjoram
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
sour cream to garnish
