The popularity of smoothies has increased in recent years. They are a great thirst quencher and are very diet friendly. There are 2 kinds of fruit smoothies. First is the classic fruit smoothie — which involves adding ice cubes to fruit. The ice cubes act as the binder and as the cold element. You can also use freshly sliced fruits or vegetables. You can also add sweeteners such as honey, sugar, agave, or molasses.

5 oz frozen watermelon
6 oz frozen strawberry
1 cup almond milk

Watermelon has extremely high water content. It's the perfect fruit to eat on a hot day. But, to combat the watery smoothie problem, it is best to freeze the watermelon overnight. When choosing your watermelon, look for a seedless variety to make your life easier. If you can't find seedless watermelon, take the time to pick out the seeds before you freeze it.Peel and cut the melon into small chunks. You can pickle the watermelon rind to avoid waste. Pickled watermelon rind is a great afternoon snack.

Serve smoothies in chilled glasses. For garnish, place a few wedges of watermelon aside when cutting your watermelon. A sprig of fresh mint will add a pretty pop of green once you are ready to serve.
