This is a variation of Paula Deen's peach cobbler recipe from her Lady and Sons cookbook. My mama started making this while I was a freshmen in college, and one summer when I came home, we lived off of it morning, noon, and night! After I got married, I started making it for my husband, but we felt it was a bit too buttery and a bit too sweet. So I cut down on the "bad" stuff and learned how to double it for our family events!

1 and 1/2 sticks butter
2 Cups self-rising flour
3/4 Cup sugar
1 15-oz. can sliced or diced fruit OR 4 Cups of freshly prepared fruit, 1 Cup sugar, and 1 and 1/2 Cups water
