Tomato and onion chutney

Tomato and onion chutney is a very simple and easy recipe which can be prepared in 10 min and it goes good with dosa, idle, vada and other dishes. This is one of the common chutney which I would be preparing at home.
¼ cup chickpea
1 onion sliced
2 small tomatoes chopped
½ tsp. Tamarind pulp
3 Garlic cloves
2tbsp. grated Coconut
½ tsp. Salt
3 whole red chilies
½ cup Water or as needed for grinding
1 tsp. oil
For tempering
1 tsp. oil
5 Curry leaves
½ tsp. Urad dal
1tsp. Mustard seeds

For tempering
1 tsp. oil

1tsp. Mustard seeds
• Heat 1 tsp. of oil in skillet, add chickpea, onion, tomatoes, chilies, tamarind, garlic and coconut, fry them on medium heat for 6 to 7 min.
• Allow them to cool and then blend all the fried ingredients using water to a smooth chutney paste.
• Tempering – heat tsp. of oil in skillet, when hot add mustard seeds, when it starts to pop, add curry leaves and urad dal, fry for few seconds and add to chutney.
• Transfer the prepared chutney to serving bowl and serve with dosa or idle.
