Uncle David's Spaghetti Sauce

I got this recipe from my uncle who worked as a chef for a while. I have made a few changes but this is the best sauce I have ever made.

1 lb. loose sausage
1 lb. ground round
2 very large onions, chopped
3 large cloves garlic, chopped
1 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
1 30 oz. can tomatoes
1 15oz. can tomato paste
1 can 10 3/4 oz beef broth
2 cups red wine (or more beef broth)
1 Tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground sage
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 bay leaves
In large Dutch oven, slowly brown sausage and hamburger. Add onions, garlic and mushrooms and saute. Stir and add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook for about 3 hours, until thick. Serve over pasta of your choice.

1 fl. oz. Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth
1 fl. oz. Campari

Stir with Ice & Strain
Pour into Rocks Glass
Garnish with Orange Peel
