Whole Wheat Gingerbread with Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting

I wanted to make something my kids would eat for our play group Christmas party this year. I know my daughter (the picky one) loves a good spice cake and my son will pretty much devour anything with frosting on it, so I decided to do some gingerbread. I did some with cinnamon buttercream and then some sprinkled with confectioners sugar with a dash of cinnamon because my daughter does not like frosting.

For the Gingerbread:
1 cup of white sugar
1 cup of butter
2 eggs
2 cups of molasses
5 cups of whole wheat flour
3 tsp of baking soda
3 tsp ground cinnamon
3 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp salt
5-6 cups of hot water (this will vary depending on your flour you want your batter a little bit thicker than a normal cake batter, but not so thick it could be a cookie dough)
For Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting:
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup of butter
1tsp vanilla extract
1 to 2 tbsp whipping cream
2 tsp of ground cinnamon
