Zeppole Donuts

Zeppole Donuts are Italian donuts that are deep fried and dipped into your favorite kind of sugar. It can be served some melted chocolate, yum!!!

Dough:
2 cups warm water
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp active dry yeast
6 tbsp cooking oil
5 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Sugar:
2 cups powdered sugar
1. Preheat a deep fryer with peanut oil. 2. In a standing mixer add warm water, sugar salt and yeast and let it stand for 5 minutes and bubbles start to form. 3. Add 6 tbsp of oil and then add flour on low speed one cup at a time. 4. Combine everything and mix dough for about 8 minutes on low speed. Dough will be stick to touch, but should not be sticking to bowl when it is being kneaded. 5. Oil your hands and a bowl with a little bit of cooking oil and oil the table where you will be placing the dough. 6. Form dough into a ball and place into oiled bowl. 7. Allow the dough to rise about 15 minutes. 8. Meanwhile place the powdered sugar into a bowl. 9. When dough is ready, place on a large cutting board and pat dough flat about 1 inch thick and 10 inches in diameter. 10. With a pizza cutter, cut 1 inch pieces. 11. Place dough into rack outside of the deep fryer and then slowly submerge pieces into oil. 12. Fry each side until golden brown. 13. Placed fried donuts onto paper towels and pat the excess oil and roll in the powdered sugar 14. Donuts are ready to enjoy right away!
