Baked Macaroni and Cheese

This is my go-to recipe for mac and cheese. Deliciously cheesy goodness without the boxed chemicals. This recipe has been boyfriend-approved—He eats at least two bowls every time!

3 cups macaroni elbows
(Sauce)
1 large onion, diced
3 tbsp salted butter
1 heaping tbsp flour
2 cups 2% milk (any lower and you’ll get an odd, grainy texture)
2 cups freshly grated old cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp pepper
(Crust)
3 tbsp butter
¼ cup bread crumbs (I used one that had italian seasoning already in it)
½ cup grated old cheddar cheese
