Best Mexican Rice

Tis is the closest I could get to restaurant style Mexican rice. Family loves it and the recipe is often requested by friends. Full of flavor and great with tacos

3 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
1 cup long grain white rice
2 teaspoons taco seasoning
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
1/4 cup finely chopped green chilies
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 cups chicken broth
Saute rice in oil until toasted. add onion, chilies, pepper and taco seasoning. cook until veggies are tender about 10 min. total. while sautéing heat tomato sauce and broth in a medium sauce pan. When veggies are tender add the rice and veggie mix to the broth mix. bring to boil then cover and reduce to simmer. cook on low about 15 - 20 min. until rice is tender.
