The brown sugar in this bread adds a welcome change to the traditional banana bread recipes out there

2 large, ripe bananas (the browner, the better!)
1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
1/2 cup applesauce
1 egg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup almond milk (or whole milk)
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
walnuts (optional)
