Chili Chicken (Oven Preparation)

Chili Chicken is a popular Indo-Chinese dish of chicken. This dish is usually prepared by frying the boneless chicken with marinated powered spices and then seasoned with sauces to give a spicy, hot and tangy taste. Today I am baking the chicken in oven instead of deep frying and then going to season with sauces to give the original taste of chill chicken.

1 lb Boneless chicken cut in medium size pieces
1 n egg
11/2 tsp. red chili powder
1 tsp. ginger garlic paste
1 tsp coriander powder
3/4 tsp. Salt or as per taste
¼ tsp. red food color

Seasoning
1 tbsp. red chili sauce
1 tsp. soya sauce
1 tsp tomato ketchup
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp oil
Onion and coriander for garnish
• In a mixing bowl add the washed chicken pieces ,salt, ginger garlic paste, broken egg, red chili powder, coriander powder, red food color(optional) and combine well and cover the bowl and marinate for 10 min (30 min. for best result) • Thread the marinated chicken on the skewers and lightly spray oil all over the chicken skewers and line them on a tray. • Pre heat the oven at 180 C and grill the chicken for 20 min by turning occasionally and for last 5 min. Place the chicken in broil and remove from oven. • Once the chicken is ready prepare the seasoning by adding tsp of oil in sauce pan, when hot add ginger garlic paste and fry until golden brown, then add sliced onion and pinch of salt and fry for 1 min. • Then add red chili sauce, tomato ketchup and soya sauce and 2 tsp of water and cook for 1 min. • When the sauce starts to thicken up add the grilled chicken and mix well so that the chicken gets coated with sauce and cook for 1 min.once done transfer the chili chicken to the serving plate and enjoy.
