Enjoy an old South African favorite. This is a very traditional dish loved by South Africans. Very easy to make and budget friendly. You will soon make this once a week for your family. I love to add a sliced banana and some coconut on top. Even the kids love it... Create a new family memory meal. This recipe will be passed on to friends. Trust me... it is that Good!

1kg Mince Beef (lean)
1 Onion (large)
1/4 cup Mild Curry Powder
1 table spoon Crushed Garlic
1 teaspoon Ground Turmeric
30ml Bown Sugar
20ml Tomato Sauce/Ketchup
20ml White Vinegar
1 tablespoon Flour
2 cups Chutney
15 ml Olive Oil
3 Carrots peeled and finely chopped
2-3 Potatoes peeled and chopped
1 cup Water
1 teaspoon Salt
Freshly ground Black Pepper
2 cups Basmati rice with 3 cups water and salt.

2-3 Potatoes peeled and chopped
1 cup Water
1 teaspoon Salt
Freshly ground Black Pepper
2 cups Basmati rice with 3 cups water and salt.
Heat oil in large pan and saute onion and garlic for 2 minutes.
Add minced beef and brown
Now put rice on, make sure it is covered with water, bring to boil , add lid, lower heat and let steam till ready
In separate bowl mix curry, turmeric, brown sugar, tomato/ketchup sauce, chutney and vinegar
Add the carrots and potatoes with 1 cup of water and cook for 10 minutes on medium heat or until the carrots and potatoes feels soft.
Add mixture of sauce and add more water if needed.
Add the salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Cook for 5 minutes on lower heat.
Remove from heat and serve
