Polenta has been dubbed by some as “Italian grits” and is still known as a peasant food in most parts of Italy. Peasant food or food fit for a king, either way it is delicious! Prepare this several hours before serving. Make a quick and easy Italian Sausage Marinara and served it on top of the fried polenta.

5 cups water
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ¼ cup of medium grain, yellow cornmeal
