Turtle Cookies with Chocolate Chips

You are going to love the combination of the chocolate, caramel and pecans! They are definitely a step up from your typical chocolate chips. Just a few notes on these cookies, be sure to use semi-sweet or even dark chocolate chips. We tried milk chocolate chips and it made the cookies way too sweet. Also, feel free to substitute with chopped almonds if you are not a pecan fan, or leave them out altogether if you don’t like nuts.

1 cup softened butter or shortening
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2¼ cups unsifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (we like Ghirardelli brand)
¾ cup chopped pecans
¾ cup caramel bits
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2¼ cups unsifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (we like Ghirardelli brand)
¾ cup chopped pecans
¾ cup caramel bits
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. I a medium size bowl, stir together flour with baking soda and salt, and set aside.
