Buttermilk Cucumber Curry/Moru Curry
February 06, 2015

Moru (Buttermilk) Curry is an authentic dish in Kerala meals. It can be made with cucumber or raw banana. I used Kerala cucumber (skin color will be green and yellow, and it will be harder than other cucumbers) in this recipe.
1/2 Cup Cucumber (Chopped)
1/2 Cup Sour Yogurt
1/2 Onion
1/2 Cup Water
3 Curry Leaves
3 Dried Red Chilly
1/8 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 /2 Tsp Red Chilly Powder
1/8 Tsp Mustard Seeds
1/8 Tsp Fenugreek Seed
1/2 Tsp Ginger Paste
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Oil
1/2 Cup Sour Yogurt
1/2 Onion
1/2 Cup Water
3 Curry Leaves
3 Dried Red Chilly
1/8 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 /2 Tsp Red Chilly Powder
1/8 Tsp Mustard Seeds
1/8 Tsp Fenugreek Seed
1/2 Tsp Ginger Paste
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Oil
Take water in a pan. Add the chopped onion, cucumber, turmeric powder, chilly powder, 2 curry leaves, ginger paste and salt into the water.Close and heat on a medium flame until the cucumber is well cooked. Remove from heat when cooked and keep it aside to cool down. When cool, add the buttermilk into it and heat on a medium-low flame while continuously stirring. Remove from heat when it starts to boil. Do not boil or the buttermilk will look coagulated. I made the buttermilk by beating the curd in a blender
Heat a pan, add the oil, then add the fenugreek seed, mustard seed, dried red chilly, onion and curry leaves in the same order. When the onion becomes golden in color, remove from heat and garnish on top of the curry.
