There are so many ways that you can hard-boil an egg. I don’t like my yolks overly dry, but I also don’t like them soft and under cooked. I like them perfectly cooked and creamy. Over the last 8 years of marriage, I have come up with the perfect procedure for hard-boiling an egg to meet my expectations. If you follow my steps you should be able to produce the perfect hard-boiled egg every time.

Place eggs in a single layer of a sauce pan.
Cover the eggs with water until just covered.
Bring to a rapid boil over high heat. Boil for 4 minutes. (Drop in 4 drops of food coloring, optional)
