Plantain Fritters
124
My all time favorite tea time snack since childhood! I think pazham pori, or plantain fritters, is a weakness for all Keralites
1
1 Plantain
1.5 Cup All Purpose Flour
1.25 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Sugar
1/8 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1/8 Tsp Salt
2 Cup Oil (For Frying)
1.5 Cup All Purpose Flour
1.25 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Sugar
1/8 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1/8 Tsp Salt
2 Cup Oil (For Frying)
Take all purpose flour in a bowl.( Wheat flour can be used instead of all purpose flour.)
Add sugar into the flour. We can reduce the amount of sugar depending on the ripeness of the plantain.
Add turmeric powder for color, salt to taste and water to the bowl and mix all ingredients.
The batter must be very thick, maybe thicker than pancake batter.Peel and slice the plantain into small pieces.
Add the sliced plantains into the batter. Mix well to coat the plantains with batter. Keep it aside for 5 minutes.
Heat the oil in a pan.The oil should be very hot. Add the coated plantain pieces 1 by 1 into the oil. Reduce the heat to medium and fry until they turn into a golden brown color. Remove from oil.
