The perfect, quick marinara sauce for pasta or chicken or pizza

28 ounce can whole tomatoes, preferably San Marzano
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 large onion, cut into quarters
2 tsp. dried oregano
2 tsp. kosher salt
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp. sugar
3 tbsp. tomato paste
1 tsp. olive oil
1 bay leaf
1/4 cup fresh chopped basil
