4th of July Black Bean Salad

I was looking for something new and different to serve at family picnics that you wouldn't have to worry too much about keeping at room temperature. I came up with this and it was a hit. I serve it at every 4th of July family picnic we have at our house now. Hope you enjoy.

2 cans black beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen corn
2 carrots, chopped finely
3/4 cup sliced scallions
1 sm. can chopped green chilis
1 or 2 tomatoes, chopped
1/3 cup minced fresh cilantro
1/2 cup olive oil
juice of 2 lemons
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons brown sugar
Combine all ingredients. Refrigerate for 24 hours to allow flavors to develop. I have started using lime juice in place of the lemon juice and I think I like it even better. I also slice a lime nice and thin and decorate the serving bowl with it, if I remember, ha ha.
